As a Data Engineer at FGI, you will be responsible for creating the technology and data architecture that moves and translates data used to inform critical strategic and real-time decisions. You will work with internal partners across engineering, product, business and marketing teams to translate business needs into technical solutions - three important areas of focus will be: centralizing data repositories, building self-serve analytics platforms, and developing automated reporting solutions.
We are an expanding team with an abundance of growth and influence opportunities. You will work directly with the engineering head of the company (an ex-Google engineer) and help to set the team’s culture and technical direction.

Key Responsibilities
As a Data Engineer, you will:
- Manage and automate the end-to-end process of organizational data collection and reporting
- Optimize existing pipelines and maintain all domain-related data pipelines.
- Coordinate with your team to identify new data requirements, analysis strategies and reporting solutions.
- Recommend and implement data models, data architecture, business intelligence, and data governance processes to ensure scalability and maintainability.
- Create technical systems documentation.
Job Qualifications
- B.S. degree in Computer Science or a related technical field
- 2+ years professional experience with data modeling, building data pipelines and reports
- Expertise with SQL; knowledge of SQL performance tuning and e2e process optimization.
- Proficiency in at least one programming language (e.g. Python, Java, C++, C#)
- Understand concepts of schema evolution, sharding, latency etc.
Preferred, but not required:
- Strong experience using ETL framework (ex: Airflow, Flume, Oozie etc.) to build and deploy production-quality ETL pipelines.
- Familiarity with AWS and GCP cloud suites (e.g. AWS Redshift, Google BigQuery)
